Starting Point is seeking a compassionate physical therapist to provide in-home services to infants and toddlers from birth to age five.

This position offers genuine scheduling flexibility. You choose your working hours, build a caseload that fits your availability, and select the geographic area where you want to provide services. Your schedule can change from week to week as your needs change.

Provide meaningful pediatric care while maintaining time for your family, another position, personal commitments, or the life you have built outside work.

Position at a Glance

Hours: 15 to 30 hours per week preferred
Pay: $54 to $68 per hour, with paid travel and documentation time, mileage reimbursement, PTO
Schedule: Therapist-selected and adjustable from week to week
Location: Therapist-selected area within DuPage and Will counties
Setting: Homes, childcare centers, community locations, and telehealth when appropriate
Remote work: Documentation and charting are completed from home
Population: Infants and toddlers from birth to age five

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.
Identify concerns involving gross motor development, mobility, strength, balance, coordination, posture, and movement.
Develop individualized, functional treatment plans based on each child’s needs and family priorities.
Provide play-based physical therapy in the child’s natural environment.
Coach parents and caregivers on practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines.
Support skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, transitions, balance, and mobility.
Recommend adaptive equipment, orthotics, positioning supports, and environmental modifications when appropriate.
Establish measurable goals and monitor each child’s progress.
Complete progress reports, daily documentation, and discharge summaries accurately and on time.
Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan meetings and periodic progress reviews.
Communicate with service coordinators, physicians, childcare providers, and other professionals.
Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, developmental specialists, and other members of the child’s care team.
Educate families about development while respecting their goals, routines, culture, and concerns.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, early intervention regulations, and professional standards.
Manage an assigned caseload and communicate promptly about scheduling changes or service concerns.
Travel to homes and community locations within the designated service area of your choice.

Education and Licensure Requirements

Doctor of Physical Therapy or Master of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted Illinois physical therapy license.
Current CPR and first-aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
Completion of required background checks and Early Intervention credentialing (assistance provided by Starting Point if needed).
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance when travel is required.
Professional liability insurance, if required.

Experience and Qualifications

Experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children is preferred.
Knowledge of typical and atypical motor development from birth through age three.
Understanding of family-centered care, caregiver coaching, and services delivered in natural environments.
Ability to recognize developmental concerns and determine when additional assessment or referral is appropriate.
Strong clinical reasoning, observation, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
Comfortable entering family homes and adapting treatment to different environments and available materials.
Organized, reliable, flexible, and able to manage a part-time caseload efficiently.
Respectful and responsive when working with families from varied cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, squat, bend, reach, and move between floor and standing positions.
Ability to lift and carry children or equipment within safe professional guidelines.
Ability to demonstrate developmental activities and safely assist children with movement.
Reliable availability for an agreed-upon number of visits each week.
Ability and willingness to travel between service locations.
